This book was one of the most interesting of the series, with new characters coming forward and character development soaring. I understand a lot more of Eragon's personality, as well as Roran's. The dwarf politics part shows that Paolini did a great job of world building and not making Alagaesia a mono-culture. The appearance of "Guntera" yields a mystery that was never solved, which can be good or not, depending on whether you like everything answered in a story at the end. The main fault I found with this book was the battles. I do not mind epic battles, but I felt that Paolini went on for way too many pages, and nearly all of Roran's chapters were the same, with Roran stabbing at soldiers and dodging swords. Most of those battles could have been better summarized. Still, the ending played out emotionally quite well, and it was one of the best of the Inheritance Cycle so far.
