On its own, the acting seems a bit stilted but that matches the style of the highly influential series of graphic novels (dating back to 1967) it was based on. The special effects are good and the "big market" is particularly prescient. It is also worth noting that, despite no mention in the film title and a "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977) ending, the strong female lead Laureline is portrayed as equal to and at times more competent than Valerian.
