Silva's book immediately grabbed my attention with the focus of a kidnapping of a young girl attending a Swiss school. She is the daughter of a Saudi crown prince and is used by Russian agents as a ploy to get him to give up his position as the next king of Arabia in order for them to install a Russian puppet in the Arabian throne. The recent event of the dismemberment of a journalist in the Saudi Arabian embassy in Istanbul plays a prime role in this story but, of course, with names changed. Silva uses that event to plot his story giving Silva the opportunity to expand this incident into one involving the spy agencies of major countries and, of course, a return of his spy characters. At times Silva's fictional story gets the back seat as Silva explains to his readers the powerplay in the Middle East. This novel continues Silva's trademark of having his characters visit many places in Europe which becomes an interesting sidelight for me as I read his novels.
