Read this book a bit ago. I liked it, as I seem to like every book written by Cassandra Clare, and it took me on an emotional whirlwind. I gotta say, part of me felt disappointed though. I know Julian is a huge part of Emma's life but it just felt like a book filled with angst and heartbreak and made in a way the intense focus on it took away some of Emma's character for me. I felt like her reputation was forced onto the reader. At some point, someone reiterates that Emma is the best Shadowhunter since Jace Herondale but honestly I don't feel like I've seen the evidence. She's good, don't get me wrong, but stating that she's the new up-in-coming while reading about all about her love life (not a bad thing) seemed a little forced for me. I don't know, I could be complaining about nothing, it was just something I noticed in the book. Good read and nice location, drama as expected between the Blackthorn brothers after the controversial ending of Lady of Midnight. Mischief and adventure were delivered as expected.
