a Quick Resource Guide to Selecting and Sewing Fabric
Oct 05, 2009Sony rated this title 4 out of 5 stars
This book is certainly useful as a quick sewing reference to most fabrics. It's in a very user-friendly format with spiral binding and generally 1-2 pages per fabric highlighting which size of machine sewing needle to use, which presser foot to use and fabric care instructions. This book also has a section on helping to identify fabrics of unknown fibre origin. Most of the photos, however, are quite outdated. Also, while it did have sections on fabrics such as hemp and lycra, it did not have any information on fabrics made with some "newer" fibres, such as bamboo and modal. Overall, it's still useful as a reference for the vast majority of woven and knit fabrics that today's sewers use.
