"Unspeakable" is filled with plot twists that leaves readers with surprises and wonder. It is a love story very similar to the "Titanic" (it evens mentions the "Titanic"). Ellen Hardy has had her mother die, get kicked out by her father and sent to work (by her great-aunt) as a stewardess on "The Empress of Ireland", a huge downgrade from her original first class status. There, she finds love to heal her broken heart, but Jim has his own secrets. Before they can be revealed, "The Empress of Ireland" is hit by another ship, causing a tragedy rivaling the "Titanic". Back in present day, Ellie seemingly lost everything and is hounded by a reporter that wants to know her story. She has to relive guilt, fear, regret and uncover secrets buried for 2 years. I really like this book because it shows how Ellie matured and found herself. She learns to deal with pain and loss and finally lets go of her past to make a brighter future. It is obvious the author put much thought into this book. Unlike some of the other comments, I actually like how the book changes from present to past every few chapters, it was a smooth transition. Throughout the course of the book, I was filled was so many questions that kept me inferring the ending. There was always a bit of unpredictability in the book that made it interesting. Overall, I like "Unspeakable" and it was well written. As for my 3 questions: 1. What will Jim do for a living? Will he live in Ellie's house with Faith or with his two sisters? 2. Although they promised to see each other again, will they keep contact after Steele comes back? What about the book he is going to write? 3. Will Ellie's father ever open his mind and accept his granddaughter?
