Henry takes the stock Alice characters and completely reimagines their histories into a logical and beautifully told tale, even though the characters and events themselves can be ugly. Bonus: perpetrators' brutalities come back to haunt them as they experience..."interesting"...ends of their own making. Alice's journey from victim to victor is a thrill ride, and her solution to the Jabberwocky problem is exquisite. If you enjoy gritty, intense, and character-driven fiction, I'd recommend this book; the sequel, "Red Queen", is just as good.
