I love the TV show but I don't think this comic is very good. The characters didn't act in ways that made sense, which sapped tension from the plot. The plot itself is an excuse to introduce character backstories, which are usually pretty good on the show, but I didn't find these backstories particularly compelling. It reminded me of other things I liked better: The more horrifying "24 Hours" issue of The Sandman, and the sadder "Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been" episode of Angel.
total ripoff of an ANGEL episode of a tentacled demon feeding off the shame and guilt of humans. how they got away with this is beyond me.
Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the series in particular or vampires in general (though at least these ones don't have that annoying tendency to sparkle). So I might not be the right one to comment on this. This collection would be an offshoot of the series, and fans of the show would have a better sense of the characters. For what it is, it works, but if you're not familiar with the premise of the series, you'll feel lost.
I am a fan of the series, and thought this graphic novel was really good. It delves into the pasts of the main characters. When I started reading it and couldn't put it down!
I really like the comic book as it a good story line like a group of teenages getting together around a fire camp and telling stories of their past
I LOVE the True Blood TV series so I thought I'd check this one out. It's really good, very true to the series, but just like the TV show, it's not shy at all. There's some pretty graphic content (pardon the pun) but if you're a True Blood fan then you'll like this one too.
