Turning eleven is normally something to be excited about. And, normally, Amanda would be, except that her mom just lost her job; her older sister Kylie is impossible; her best friend has decided that trying out for the gymnastics team will pave their way to popularity (even though Amanda can?t do a back handspring to save her life); and her other best friend (well, ex-best friend) Leo, with whom she shares a birthday, is having a separate birthday party this year for the first time since, well, forever. When Amanda wakes up the day after her birthday, glad to have it behind her, she can?t understand why her mom and dad are singing ?Happy Birthday? to her. She thinks it?s a joke. Or is it?

I absolutely love this book and the entire Willow falls series. I first read it in 4/5th grade and have read the entire series once more in my middle school years. Now being in high-school, while it is certainly not in my grade level, I would still totally reread it again and again. Something about the ability to connect with the pre-teens and teens in the book, but still have the mysterious, fictional factor to it makes it is the perfect combination. Highly recommend to anyone 8/9+.

great book recomended for people that like a little sprise scare age 10-15

I love preteen novels with elements of the supernatural and this book doesn’t disappoint. Amanda and Leo are old friends, born on the same day and always happy to celebrate their birthdays together. Until this one. Something happened to their friendship that left them estranged. Turning eleven can be hard but in this instance it gets harder as the day repeats on Amanda. She can’t escape all the bad feelings and her miserable Hollywood theme party creating a fun ride as she attempts to face it differently each time. Age appropriate relationships and the unexpected ways the day plays out will keep a young reader engaged in this enjoyable work. (Submitted by Pippa)

The first book I read that just blew my mind! Definitely one of my all time favorite series. This book isn't my favorite in the series, but absolutely still worth the read.

The Willow Falls series is one of my favourite series! Best friends Amanda and Leo have celebrated their birthday together for as long as they can remember. So it makes sense that they would celebrate their eleventh birthday together, right? When Amanda and Leo have a big fight a few days before their birthday they decide to have two different birthday parties. Amanda is stuck in her costume for her boring Hollywood themed party while Leo is having a large party with a hypnotist, a football star and even a rock band. Amanda just wishes that she could skip the day so she can stop thinking about the fight. But the next day it’s her birthday all over again. This was a great book, for anyone ages nine and older. Wendy Mass tells a story about friendship, magic, and family. Find out what happens by reading 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass.

My fifth grade self never would have thought or imagined that reading 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass would convince me to go through the entire Willow Falls series, the Twice Upon a Time series and over three more books written by Wendy Mass. Every now and then, I’ll pick up this novel specifically and read it once again, and it’ll feel like a breath of fresh air. The combination of nonfiction and fiction, the untacky inclusion of superpowers, and the spectacularly beautiful message are features that I loved the most while reading the book. However, as time goes on, I personally find myself to outgrow the book and the series as a whole, so I wouldn’t recommend this book to those looking for something a tad bit more mature. Otherwise, If you’re searching for a fun and unique book, “11 Birthdays” by Wendy Mass would be a wonderful choice. Rating: 4/5

As the first book of the Willow Falls series by Wendy Mass, I would say that the writing style she chose to use to introduce the characters in “11 Birthdays” was one of the most eloquent and ideal methods she could’ve used to grasp the attention of the reader within the first few chapters. Not only did she describe the connection and relationship between each main character and their relevance in a detailed manner, but Wendy Mass also made sure to incorporate age-appropriate yet still relatable content while keeping in mind that most of her books’ readers are young. The constantly thickening plot and the storyline following Leo and Amanda’s shared birthdays that’s basically made up of twists, turns, and suspense delivered room for creative expansion of easily-comprehensible and imaginative content while staying in bounds of reality. Overall, Wendy Mass has written yet another powerful and moving page-turner that will have readers tempted to fast-track to the resolution. Rating: 4/5

Eleven Birthdays is such an amazing, fun, and magical book by Wendy Mass. The main character Amanda is stuck in a time loop where she and her ex-best friend Leo’s birthdays keep repeating over and over again. Amanda is definitely a relatable character and the story is super interesting and original. All of the characters are interesting and well developed. Wendy Mass is a terrific author and all of her books are amazing! I would definitely recommend this book and rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
