I kept getting distracted by my toenails growing.

Question in movie: Your Highness. The transmission we received. What is it they’ve sent us?
Answer: Hope.

It's a lie. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. What a steaming pile of dog poo. The only redeeming quality is that all of the story's "heroes" die at the end. It would have improved the movie a lot if they'd died at the beginning instead. This film is absolutely unsuitable for anyone claiming to be sentient.

As part of the original demo for Star Wars I can say I never really carried my love of the series into adulthood. I'm astonished at the reverence given to spin-outs like 'Return of the Jedi'. After the over wrought prequels and one needless, busy and crass sequel (another of which has since been added), I couldn't even remember what I liked about the series as a kid . Rogue One reminded me that the core of the thing is a tried and true Hollywood staple: the War film. Not war as cautionary tale, as was Apocalypse Now, but as a bloodless 'procedural' a la "The Great Escape" or "The Dirty Dozen". As a kid I was always less interested in the mystic space wizards, except as maybe a sidebar, than I was of the soldiers and their cool space ships, robots and ray guns. It does have it's drawbacks though. I don't think the CG Peter Cushing will age well. Eventually Hollywood will discover that acting is more than a guy in capering around in a mo-cap suit. Probably would have been better for the character to be hidden or filmed more in long shot, so as to avoid full-on 'uncanny valley' effect, but I don't think a story like this would be possible without him. Also enjoyed the film as a self-contained story - something we need more of in the world of blockbusters. Rogue One is a 'fan film' in the best sense of the word.

Rogue one for me was a very entertaining Star Wars movie. The main protagonist in my opinion was okay. Her backstory is tragic with her mother getting killed by Director Krennics’ goons when she was a child, so you feel sorry for her, and in turn bring some interest to her in a meaningful way, especially when its found out later that her father is still alive. K2SO, a re-purposed Empire droid, is very funny, and lighthearted touch to the Rogue One crew. It was sad to see him, well, “die” during the mission at the later part of the film. Could have at least given him one more movie. The fight scenes were very well done, especially when those scenes had Chirrut, the blind monk at the start of the movie; single-handedly doing work on over half a dozen stormtroopers on his own with fast paced attacks. Seeing Moff Tarkin in the movie (albeit in CG form) was great. The CG model of Tarkin was so well done it took you a couple seconds for me to realize it was actually CG. The voice actor for Tarkin performed great as well. The strategic rivalry with Director Krennic was very interesting as well, showing that he is willing to play a little “office politics” to be shown better for the emperor. Seeing Darth Vader on Mustafar, and in a Star Wars movie for the first time in decades was incredible, with his entrance coming from his rejuvenation tank demanding attention and respect. And the scene where he ignited his red lightsaber and then proceeded to single-handedly slaughter a whole fleet of rebel troops was an epic display of power. The ending scene with Princess Leia (also in CG) was great as well. Overall, this movie was very well done, from beginning to end. This in my opinion is a must-watch for all Star Wars fans. Score: 4/5. @Ay-J of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Rogue One A Star Wars Story is an independent movie in the Star Wars movie series. The movie takes place in between Star Wars Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars A New Hope. The story follows all the people who helped the rebel alliance and Princess Leia get the blueprints of the Death Star. If you are a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy, I would recommend watching this movie. The plot is very interesting and the story is well written. It fits right into where it takes place. Surprisingly, the movie is not confusing at all and is a great family movie. Personally, I think it is the best Star Wars movie since Return of the Jedi. Even though going into it you think you have an idea about what is going to happen, the writers, producers, and directors managed to slip a few surprises in it too. They clearly spent a lot of time planning out this movie which is why I find it enjoyable. I appreciate that they follow the original tone of Star Wars. Overall, I would rate this movie five out of five stars.

A Star Wars Story was the first Star Wars movie I ever saw and it was an amazing movie! Being a standalone Star Wars film meant that you could watch it without having watched any of the other movies. Also being the first Star Wars movie to appear after The Force Awakens is a big deal and Rouge One did not disappoint. Rouge One takes place days before A New Hope and fills in many plots points that A New Hope merely brushes over. It is action packed and left me on the edge of my seat. It’s complete with amazing special effects, beautiful music and lovable new characters! Rouge One was the reason I got into Star Wars movie and the reason I am now a super fan! 4/5 @TheCanadianHufflepuff of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

For operations in support of intelligence collection requirements, this movie is horrible. Cassian Andor, an intelligence officer in the Rebel Alliance, seeks out and recruits Jyn Erso as an active agent, in support of identified human intelligence collection requirements involving Saw Gerrera - a former Rebel Alliance ally now estranged. Such conventional recruitment and case officer operations are fine - and work, until Andor develops, requests and - without command approval from Rebel Alliance leadership or their critically-needed operational support - independently initiates not reconnaissance, not surveillance but deliberate direct action collection operations on Scarif against an established, fixed enemy site.

In one fell swoop, thanks to the actions of and decisions by a single Rebel Alliance intelligence officer, the whole of the Rebel Alliance fleet and the whole of the Rebel Alliance are nearly lost.

This serves as another indicator of why Rebel Alliance command struggles with needed information and intelligence in support of policy and decision-making requirements.

This is probably my favorite of the Disney franchise reboot so far. I felt the film fits right in with the original trilogy, but also stands out as something different. I love that it fills in a detail fans had been curious about for decades. Love the characters, the settings, and the effects.

Violence: Violence at its peak I would say. At least as far as Star Wars goes. Lasers, Vader poning people, emotionally nail death sequences. The whole lot. It's not James Bond or Jason Bourne but still be warned.
