The little boy in the story was a fascinating character. Not much else in the book was worthwhile.

A must read in preparation for the movie version, starring Claire Foy, coming out fall 2018. Bit of an acting stretch - from HRH the Queen to the disturbed and disturbing Lisbeth Salander - but betting Foy will nail it!

Most of the book is great, but you can tell right were Larsson stopped Lagercrantz picks up. Larsson let the story unfold, but Lagercrantz seemed to hurry the ending. It may have been because of dead line issues, but it does hurt the story a little. However, am will to continue to the girl that takes an eye for an eye.

Great summer read. It does start out slow and then get's rolling. Funny how most characters are either idiot's or really good people. Really good read..

As a fan of the Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson, I was hoping for the best with this continuation of the series by another author and translator. Fortunately it was a very worthy addition to the series, a story that I greatly enjoyed.
A couple of minor criticisms: I would have enjoyed a bit more Lisbeth content. Secondly, found that some of the technical descriptions were not as typically expressed in English (for example - in my experience source code should not have a pluralization s on the end; it means the set of human-written and intelligible programming language statements that are processed into an executable machine-language computer program.)

This was a good read. I was prepared not to like it but was surprised how closely the new author David Lagercrantz kept the tone and pace of Stieg Larsson's trilogy. It was enjoyable and I recommend it.

awesome read! moved rapidly and kept you entertained
4/5 stars here! didn't really notice this was a new author continuing the books--

As with the Larsson trilogy, most of the plot is character driven. I remind myself that this is an imitator's extrapolation in translation and, from that perspective, it is pretty good. Although the jargon in chapter 5 is not technically incorrect, it reads like the "I know UNIX" (paraphrased) line from the original Jurassic Park movie ... Lisbeth would not have explained it herself that way and she would not have had to hack Blomkvist's computer again since she was already mirroring it. In fact, I was disappointed that Lagercrantz has elevated Lisbeth from an understated mystery to mythic proportions that are frankly less believable. This escalation may prove to be a problem for the next book.

Though the tone was different and obviously it would be with a new author AND a new translator, I still enjoyed the story and it was great to see the characters again after a long time. Altogether less intriguing and far more 'tame' than the other books this addition to Mikael and Lisbeth's story was well done though will never be special like the first 3.

Wow, I can't believe all of the negative comments made about this book. I loved it! I thought that David Lagercrantz did a fabulous job of continuing the series that I loved so much. I thought that he was true to the iconic characters, while adding in many new complex ones. Just because a story is continued in the voice of a different author, it doesn't make it any less interesting. If anyone wishes to condemn a follow-up story to a famous series, look no further than Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (and this had the stamp of approval from J.K. Rowling herself).

Some good one liners:

“The fact that Russia is little more than a petrol station with a flag on top. They export oil and natural gas, but manufacture nothing worth mentioning. …”
She was like a thief breaking into a house just to point out that it was already full of stolen goods ...
You know, you don’t have to be big and fat and shave in the mornings to be a good hacker. I’ve met twelve- and thirteen-year-olds who are crazy good.
“Do you know what my rabbi says? That the mark of a man is his contradictions….”
Salander was not drinking as if she enjoyed it, but rather as if it she had to get it out of the way.
" ... . How’s Sara?” Sara was Amir’s wife and had just had a hip operation. “Complaining and taking painkillers.” “Sounds like hard work. Give her my best.”

The A.I. Singularity:
-His objective was to achieve A.G.I., or Artificial General Intelligence.” “And what is that?” “It’s when something has the intelligence of a human being, but the speed and precision of a computer. If a thing like that could be created, it would give us enormous advantages within numerous fields.”
-the hypothetical concept of “technological singularity”, the state at which computer intelligence will have overtaken our own. ... It’s no secret that the organization is working hard specifically to develop quantum computers. For the N.S.A. that would be paradise, pure and simple. An effective quantum machine would enable them to crack all encryptions, all digital security systems eventually, and after that no-one would be safe from that organization’s watchful eye.”

On Sexy Primes:
" ... As she looked through the papers and came across the simple sequence 641, 647, 653 and 659, there was no longer any doubt: they were sexy prime quadruplets, sexy in the sense that they differed from each other by six."
(in depth: Sexy primes are pairs of primes of the form ( , ), so-named since "sex" is the Latin word for "six." and not to be confused with prime quadruple which is four consecutive primes, such that the first and the last differ by 8 as 3461, 3463, 3467, 3469.)

Quite a bit on prime numbers:
" It was relatively short: 2305843008139952128. She got it immediately. It was not a prime number, it was – and here her spirits lifted – a number which, according to a perfect harmony, is made up of the sum of all its positive divisors. It was, in other words, a perfect number, just as 6 is because it can be divided by 3, 2 and 1 and 3 + 2 + 1 happen to add up to 6."
-For about a year now Salander had been thinking that E.C.M., the Elliptic Curve Method, would be more promising than previous algorithms, and she had spent long nights writing her own factorization program.
(in depth: Mersenne prime numbers and perfect numbers (2^30) * (2^31 - 1) = 2,305,843,008,139,952,128)
