"When Nicki drops his white mitten in the snow, he goes on without realizing that it is missing. One by one, woodland animals find it and crawl in; first, a curious mole, then a rabbit, a badger and others, each one larger than the last. Finally, a big brown bear is followed in by a tiny brown mouse and what happens next makes for a wonderfully funny climax. As the story of the animals in the mitten unfolds, the reader can see Nicki in the boarders of each page, walking through the woods unaware of what is going on" --

My 4 year olds loved this book. It is a lovely, somewhat silly story and give the kids clues as to what will happen next.

Love this story and the accompanying illustrations. The side panels that show Nicki traversing through the winter wonderland, unaware of what is happening with his lovely mitten, are funny and add a nice depth to the story.

Well-written, well-drawn, and with a very cute story, this is one fable for everyone to read. The boarder patterns and pictures, add that little extra something to this particular copy, for they show what they boy is up to, while giving a sneak peak to the next animal. The animals while realistically drawn, have some very expressive facial features. Details of the stretching mitten, make this seemingly impossible action look real.

A great folktale to read to your kids on a cold winter's day. A snow white mitten, lovingly stitched by Nicki's grandmother, becomes a winter refuge for various animals in the forest.
