I liked this book. In it themes and style it reminds me of Ruth Ozeki. The book takes on resonant themes: mating and coupling, environmentalism, teen angst, pregnancy, and parenthood. Stylistically, it's plush with detail and a little frantic in its plotting. The storyline swirls and strays in unpredictable ways. At times there was so much going on, it was hard to get to know the characters and their motivations well. But since the themes and plot spiral back on themselves, the meaning builds by accretion.
