Coming of age story set in Atlanta during the Civil Rights movement. After losing her Mother in a plane crash, Mary Swan’s family maid convinces her to come help the needy at her church to get her mind off of her own problems. Mary Swan spends the next year learning about herself, her Mother, and Faith in God. Good characters that you care about along with a good story and a little mystery to be solved. This is Christian fiction and a large part of this book is Mary Swan’s involvement with a black church in a poor part of town and learning the harsh realities of prejudice and discovering her own faith. May have little too much religious overtones for some, but I really enjoyed it.

An AMAZING book that really makes you take a look at your own heart. The characters are deeply developed and insightful. A book worth reading, maybe more than once.
