I still love this series, no matter the fact that no one seems to get any older. I read this just purely for the entertainment factor. Is it great writing? No, but does it entertain me? Absolutely! I look forward to my yearly dose of crazy nonsense. For anyone that finds that they have not enjoyed them, there is a simple solution....stop reading them! I will however continue as they are just a fun read.
Contrary to all the negative comments I thought this was a great book. Funny, suspenseful, a wacky and wild escapade that only Stephanie Plum would find herself in! Another great book by Janet Evanovich!
I read this book with the hope that it would be better than the last 10 but sadly it wasn't. I really need to stop reading this series. I really enjoyed the first 9 books in the series but the story line has gotten progressively worse. Even Grandma and Lulu couldn't save this book. Oh well.
Thought this book was good. Typical Stephanie and Lula drama but it would be nice if Morelli finally manned up and married Stephanie.
Reads like it was created with random items plucked from a hat. Very flat. And seriously, Plum One was 23 years ago. I miss that Stephanie, VI Warshawski in training heels. Reminded me of the real "Jersey girls" in my family, like Mabel and Laura from Trenton. This last book is just sad. Very "peter pan". Nobody ever grows up.
The story line was fine, the usual fun silly ideas - that part didn't disappoint... But, there was everything wrong with Stephanie and the other main characters, and even the side kicks - they were barely cardboard cut-outs of themselves, with no life whatsoever. I always look forward to relaxing with Stephanie Plum sequel, no matter how silly and repetitious; but this one is lifeless.
Unneeded and repeated rightwing snark ruins a basic mystery. There are interesting mystery writers out there. Read them.
The first few Stephanie Plum books? Inventive, fresh and very funny. The 24th in the series? Snooooooze. Evanovich has obviously used the same successful outline for every book. Rex, Joe, Ranger, Lula, Grandma and her gun, open casket at the funeral home, etc. The plot twist this time? Get Grandma a puppy! Up for a drinking game? Toss one back every time the word "zombie" is used in this book. It will only take a few minutes 'til you and your friends are all flat on the floor.
Thankfully, I have never paid a cent for one of these books (thanks Gwinnett Public Library...) and could simply fast forward through this latest on CD. Each time I say, "Never again," and have absolutely no excuse about continuing to be drawn to this lame series. Thanks to fellow readers who proclaim, "End this sad saga soon."
What a mistake it is to keep writing this series. Each time I expect the delight and whimsy that was Stephanie and her cohorts. Instead we are dredging the bottom of the river. Please add the cement boots and drown this series.
Yeech. It's getting worse and worse. Try to end this series. It's done. Now I feel like I need a full-blown shower. Cockring really? Sicko
Yuck. I'm so disappointed. Are the last two written by men? Only men would think Stephanie would take such a dive in her personal life-flitting emotionally between men of all types. Where is her personal standards?
Fun-filled Burg characters join Stephanie Plum in this laugh-out-loud adventure.
Morelli, Ranger and Diesel are all competing and Stephanie is the prize - if they can round up and solve the zombie problems.
It has been a long wait, but this is one of the better Plum novels in ages.
Maybe I'm just getting bored with this series, or maybe I just don't like Diesel and any storyline he's involved in. Also, more Ranger is always a good thing, however I think it's time for Ranger to move away and for Stephanie and Joe to get married and the series ends. And we all live happily ever after!
I was quite disappointed in this one! After waiting so long for the new Stephanie Plum novel, I found this one to be even fluffier than the rest of the series (an accomplishment for a series that is on the lighter side of comedy/mystery). I was also disappointed that the character of Diesel was introduced as a regular into the Stephanie Plum cannon -rather than as he has been, a regular in the 'seasonal one-offs' such as Plum Spooky or Plum Lovin'. This is especially annoying because the author doesn't do much with him...
In a series that already has the main character in constant confusion over the men in her life---adding an additional man who doesn't add much to the plot or character development seems unnecessary!
Worth a read if you're a Plum fan, but don't expect too much!
Silly, stupid, what a chore,
Stephanie’s plots have become a bore,
I’ll read this series NEVERMORE!
Yikes!! Zombies. Always good for some belly laugh lines in her books - this one too. Her Stephanie Plum series has always had an element of 'crude' in them. This one more than I have noticed in the past.
Well, I'm sure I'm not the first one to say, "I've read every Stephanie Plum book!" While the usual crazy shenanigans are going on...this wasn't her very best plot. I must say however that given how many situations she's put New Jersey Stephanie in she still manages to amaze me.
On the positive side (at least from my POV!) Stephanie is now rompin' with both Diesel and Ranger in one book. SPOILER ALERT : and she's lost a bet (times two!) and paid up only once!!
SO curious to see if payment number two is in book 25 !!
