What a page turner! Set in my home state of New Jersey: Brash. Wise-guy. Never give up. Baby, we were born to run.
A gripping thriller that keeps you hooked throughout.
very easy read, a page turner, well suited if you don't want to think about it to hard
There is one very detailed & disturbing torture scene I would have preferred not to have encountered. Otherwise this was an excellent novel.
The death of his twin brother changed Nap Dumas' future. It has been 15 years of one-sided conversations as Nap's quest to figure out the what & why that of Leo that led him to become a police detective.
Nap's high school love disappeared the same night of Leo's death. When her fingerprints are found at a crime scene, Nap buries himself in finding answers and hopefully Maura.
This deserves a 5/5 except for the disturbing violence.
Louise Penny also wrote a novel 2 years ago about those secretive missile bases on the East Coast in the 70's and 80's. Coben's story is more provocative as it deals with the deaths of 2 teens on the site of such a missile base situated in a small upscale community. These deaths were covered up by the Agency. 15 years later another murder leads one cop into opening up an investigation into the deaths of those 2 teens. The focus of the plot, then, is how did those 2 teens really die? I enjoyed following the leads and assessing the actions of these teens. Coban adds layers of detail about their lives through the cop who does the investigating. Just accept the consequences and the fall out of their actions, as Coban tells it, without giving too much thought about reality.
This was my first Harlan Coben book. Sometimes, I like an easy, uncomplicated read just before bed and this fit the bill. It was an interesting mystery with a likeable protangonist.
Another great Coben book. He just keeps turning out great, interesting, exciting books.
Didn't care for this book at all. Too many unrealistic things go on. I felt myself several times go really? Knew who did it early on. Usually like his books a lot...Not this one.
Coben's best yet, and all the previous ones have been awesome! Great story line, never sure where it's going and when it finally gets to the end, it's in a place I never even thought of until the last chapter. Quick read too, couldn't put it down. This guy has a creative imagination and tells a great story. Enjoy.
The quintessential page turner, and I'm glad I'm retired. I read it in one day (and night). Harlan is the best storyteller, with the best commentaries on life in these times. His plots and characters are the equal of Elmore Leonard, yet his breezy style of writing makes every sentence a joy to read. Even the cameo appearance by Myron Bolivar flows with the story.
Great book!! great writer!! Read all he writes one of my favorite authors.
Stories by Harlan Coben just keep getting better and better. I loved this story right from the beginning and could not wait to get to the end. Great character Napoleon Dumas. Harlan never disappoints his readers.
