The summary is obviously about a different book - not remotely close.

This novel was a little too dark for me with respect to the kidnapping, abortion, marriage problems, insanity, dramatic teen, etc. Needed something lighter than what this book offered.

Not as good as Local Woman Missing. Too much fluff. Almost boring at the beginning, then when the story starts getting interesting the fluff sets in. Towards the end began to scan the fluff, just to get to what was happening. Certainly…

Book was great. A little confusing at first but once I got used to it I was hooked. Ending doesnt give enough closure for my liking.

I was half way through the book before it really got going. Then, I couldn't put it down. A good read.

Just read this book. It was as good as the author's first novel, The Good Girl. This book starts out one way and really has layers to the characters' lives. It really takes you on a journey. You think it is just about this women taking in…

Mary Kubica is a favorite of mine when I'm in the mood for an easy to read psychological thriller that has enough twists and turns to keep me interested. Tinged with some slight melodrama, this is a good one to read late at night with a…

Introspective about the overpowering emotions by the mother of a baby lost to an illness and the desire to still foster one. Not enough thriller for me and outside the main characters not much development. Can't recommend.

I'm a little puzzled by the user "lcraig368"'s comment about the misuse of the word miscarriage... that character was having an abortion, so that's why the word abortion was used. She had the procedure done to save her life, but still,…

It was a little hard to follow and some of the vocabulary was off. Using the word abortion instead of miscarriage was weird. It was also pretty predictable.

This is the first novel I've read by this author and it was good. Lots of really intense issues are delved into from child/parent and husband/wife relationships to basic human interactions and emotions. There are lots of things going on…

not worth the time it took to read. Very little suspense.

Well developed characters, a tense plot that is slow to build and kept me on the edge of my seat, plus several interesting twists and turns made for a gripping page-turner of a read. I can't wait to read Kubica's first book!

This is the second of Mary Kubica's novels that I have read. I started with "The Good Girl" - which I also gave 3 stars. I wanted to give this author another chance, mainly because of all the great reviews this book received. I have to…

This a well written book with characters that are dealing with losses in their lives. Their journey through this book is unique and you find yourself liking them and empathizing with them. However what you think about them and why you…

Great Book! Amazing characters - there is the one to hate, one to love, one to laugh at, one to feel sorry for and some that I just could not figure out. My only criticism is that the ending is a little soft, but that is only my opinion.…
